OUR PROGRAMS

Redland City Gymsports Inc is affiliated with Gymnastics Queensland and as such, all classes and programs we offer are based on nationally recognised programs endorsed by Gymnastics Australia and utilised by clubs around the country.

We offer a variety of classes within a safe and encouraging environment whereby participants of all abilities can achieve their maximum potential through a progressive curriculum designed to enhance each gymnast’s physical, mental and personal development.

We strive to maintain a low coach/gymnast ratio to ensure personalised attention with qualified staff who are all accredited with Gymnastics Australia, have First-Aid qualifications and are holders of a Blue Card as required by the Public Safety Business Agency (PSBA).

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Gymnasts are the most mobile of athletes, and it has been said, the second strongest at an Olympic games level after weightlifters.  They exhibit amazing levels of strength per unit of body weight, control, mobility and spacial awareness.

Training at competition level is rigorous but the benefits of the gymnastics methodology are there for all to enjoy. You may never need to actually do an iron cross, back handspring or an aerobatic routine on the uneven bars but all athletes will benefit from strength and conditoning training.

Suitable for all types of training levels – elite athlete or just starting out, strength and conditioning training is a great way of getting in shape. We design and develop individualised programs which will see an increase in speed, general fitness, agility, endurance, strength, stability, flexibility and injury prevention.

TRAMPOLINE SPORTS

Trampoline sports involves high flying aerial skills, while developing power, coordination and body awareness. The Club offers programs involving Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline. This is also both a recreational and competitive sport – the Club participates in competitions, locally, nationally and overseas.

CHILDREN FROM YEAR 1 AGE WELCOME!

TUMBLING

Tumbling is a gymnastics sporting discpline which combines skills of artistic gymnastics with those of trampolining. Ideally practised on a sprung surface, it  originated for entertainment purposes but is now codified, regulated, judged, and performed using standardized special acrobatic equipment. In competition, both males and females, perform two passes.

Elements of tumbling are also incorporated in floor routines by participants of both women’s and men’s artistic gymnastics. Tumbling elements, such as the round-off and back handspring, are also commonly integrated into the balance beam routines of gymnasts.

Tumbling has been an Olympic event only once, at the 1932 Summer Olympics, and was a demonstration event in 1996 and 2000. However, it is one of the events of the World Games and is an annual World Championships event held in conjunction with the Trampoline World Championships.

WOMEN’S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS

WAG highlights power, grace, control and courage with skills on, around and over the following apparatus: Vault, Floor, Uneven Bars and Beam.

Classes at various levels are held during the week. Girls follow the Australian Levels Program and are assessed each term.  Girls in the program have the opportunity to compete once they be assessed as ready and wish to be involved.

GYMNASTICS FOR ALL

This is a program developed by Gymnastics Australia to encourage clubs to teach all six of the gymsports offered in gymnastics – Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), Trampoline Sports, Tumbling, Acrobatic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Aerobics Gymnastics. It also aims to develop better body awareness, balance, coordination and agility through the acquisition of basic gymnastics skills leading to healthy minds and bodies for now and for later life.

Children are enrolled according to age and are assessed regularly to ensure that they are progressing according to their ability and are obtaining the gymnastic experience they desire.
