SQIC – 1 2026 – MARCH 21st and 22nd 2026

Congratulations to the 43 young athletes who represented the Redland City Gymsports Club so proudly at SQIC Interclub 1, our first comp of the year. They did extremely well considering that they had had only eight weeks of training.

Events contested were from Level 1 Under 8 through to Level 6. The recently introduced All Around Champion for each level has continued with some surprising results. The calculations are based on the events contested, so three event competitors generally will place higher than 2 event competitors. Also, if any event is “bombed” then that athlete is immediately taken out of the calculations.

Congratulations to Matilda Campbell who won the All-around for Level 1.

Teddy Sullivan placed second in the Level 1 event and Finn Struik, Evie Hall, Sam Fluhart, and Adalena Condon placed third in their events. Teddy Sullivan and Jasmine Ashcroft won both Trampoline and Double Mini in Level 1 which was a great achievement for them as it was their first competition.

Other great performances came from James Pierce (level 5 tramp), Sam Fluhart (Level 3A tramp) Porter Callaghan (level 1 tramp).

A special mention goes to our 4 Level 1 under 8 gymnasts who decided to try tumbling and double mini to gain experience in competitions prior to their WAG competition. All together we achieved: Gold x 7 Silver x 5 Bronze x 8 Top six placements x 23

A special thanks to the Robertson Club who went to a great deal of trouble to set the hall up, turn on the air conditioning, feed the Judges, and give out the All Around medals. They even had a Car Park attendant. Thank you to our coaches Ana Sofronie Lesley Daly, and Joe Finley who put in long hours. Our Judges also worked two exceptionally long days. They are Jed Bomford, Melanie Tonks, Anna Platt, Charlotte Johnston, Ella Brushe and Tyga Stimson

Redland City Gymnastics places 2nd Overall in recent Interclub Championships

Congratulations to our 40 competitors who competed over the weekend at the first Interclub of the year held at Robertson Gymnastics Club. The competition saw athletes proudly represent Redland City Gymsports in levels 1 to 6.

A few stand out performances included Jordan Bellamy finally winning two medals, a silver and bronze in level 3. Emily Hess won gold in her first ever competition on level 1 trampoline. Another first time competitor, Beau Malcolm won 2 bronze medals in level 1 trampoline and double-mini.

Overall, the club won 6 gold medals, 8 silver, 9 bronze and 16 top 6 ribbons.

As always, we were well supported by our Coaches and Judges. Anna Platt, Lesley Daly, Charlotte Johnstone, and Michelle Elliott all took a turn at supporting our athletes. We’d also like to thank our judges who dedicated their whole weekend to judge the competition. The competition would not have happened without them. Thank you to Melanie Tonks, Malcolm McBride, Lyn Gilroy, Charlotte Johnstone, Jed Bomford, Tyga Stimson, Levi Coutts-Hohenhaus, and Hudson Brown.

Our next competition is a qualifying competition next weekend where 6 of our athletes will try to make the Queensland Team. We then have the Queensland and Tasmanian States Titles in May❤️💛🖤
